Cruise-Cruise
2003
 |
|
This Division 1 outing has been held now for three years and is
certainly one of the highlights during the year. Cruise-Cruise began
with an idea of one of our Region members, Roy Queen, who is also
affiliated with the Little Ships Fleet of Long Beach. Roy brought the
idea up with the Little Ships Fleet group and our Region that "if" the
Little Ships provided a "Cruise" around Long Beach Harbor on
their personal boats, that the Region would provide a "Cruise"
around land to the skippers. Also, the Little Ships would host a BBQ at
their waterside facility for the entire group. This appeared to be a
win-win situation and the Region readily agreed. Since the first
Cruise-Cruise it has become very popular drawing in members from other
Division 1 Regions.
The pictures below represent some scenes from the last three years.

The building may be small but this property is some of the most
expensive in the area. They have there own private dock.

This is the beginning of our day, meeting to tour down to the harbor.
This scene depicts Roy Queen (center with back to camera) passing drugs
out from the bed of his vintage Chev truck. Only the skeptical
one's took the seasick pills but the water and sailing was so great, no
one got sick.

Does it get much better than this? Region member Dick Dennis waves
as they sail to the open harbor.

(above) Typical-type boat awaits for passengers. The members of
the Little Ships Fleet are great and want to "Tour" with their
rides as much as car-people do in their vintage Chev's.

Judy Lundal (above) tries her hand on the helm. It is quite an
experience for many of us. Judy was very skeptical about sailing
with motion sickness and all, but it was great.

Jean Castle, a member of the So. Cal. Region, is a airline stewardess
who is handling the forward sails. We do get to work on these
trips.
Jeanette Aust (right) a very skeptical sailor came away a avid fan of
this outing.

One of the grandest sights is sailing by the Queen Mary which sits on
display in Long Beach Harbor.
