Fall Colors Car Meet

Bishop, Ca.

2008

This car meet is known as the Fall Colors Meet and is held in Bishop, Ca..  Bishop is a moderate sized town located on Highway 395, south of Mammoth Lakes on the east side of the Sierras.  The Owens Valley Cruisin' Association hosts the event and the town really pitches in to make it a success.  The proceeds for the weekend event go to the Bishop Public Schools.

Our numbers were down somewhat this year as Eldon & Connie Northrup skipped the event because Connie broke her leg.  However, event with one of our regular's missing, we had 3 additional couples from the So. Cal. Chevelle club attend.  Those attending were Jim & Judy Lundal ('56 Chev Sprt. Cpe.), Bob & Ellie Jeppesen ('67 El Camino), Art & Susie Covarrubias (towed '54 Chev), Gilbert Martinez (towed '50 Convertible), Lee & Sharon Lieberg (modern), Dale & Kerri ('71 Chevelle) and Sonny & ('69 Chevelle).

The trip north to Bishop was very good with no mishaps.  The weather was beautiful on the drive but rain was expected for Saturday.  There was just enough rain the next morning to provide a spectacular rainbow.

The Caravan North to Bishop, Ca.

A truck on Hwy 395 had a good collection of T-Birds with a nice Lincoln Continental on the top.  Even though these cars are Ford products, this was still a spectacular sight.  Each Bird was pretty rough but these days rough can still be brought back.
Gilbert Martinez attends this meet nearly every year and always brings a different car.  This year this 1950 Chevy convertible was towed up.
